About The Position

Performs work in keeping an assigned campus or building area in a clean orderly condition. Does other related work as required. Custodian is familiar with the school's mechanical systems and is able to accept responsibility for their daily operations. Custodian is able to analyze and solve custodial problems. Custodian will order materials needed for custodial work at assigned school. Custodian will prepare rooms scheduled for school and community use.

Requirements

• Must have the experience and training equivalent to one year's custodial work
• Has knowledge of methods and materials used in custodial work
• Has ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions
• Custodians must possess a strong sense of responsibility and a high degree of reliability
• Custodian must have the human understanding and manner essential to his relationship with school children
• Custodian must be able to work harmoniously and effectively with teachers, staff, and the public

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, scrubs, and waxes floors
• Dusts, polishes furniture and woodwork
• Empties and cleans waste receptacles
• Washes windows and walls
• Cleans, scrubs, and dusts all plumbing fixtures and polishes metal work
• Assists in moving and arranging furniture and equipment
• Locks doors and windows
• Turns out lights
• Takes care of equipment and materials used in the work
• Tends surrounding grounds
• Performs other sundry duties as directed by the Principal
