POSITION OVERVIEW: Title: Custodian Reports To: Facilities Manager Schedule: M-F; 8am-5pm Status: Non-Exempt Summary: The Custodian maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment across all Tuolumne Me-Wuk Indian Health Center facilities. Working under the Facilities Manager, this position performs daily janitorial duties, minor repairs, and facility support tasks essential to the health and safety of patients, staff, and visitors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to interact respectfully and effectively with diverse tribal communities.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment TB test, background check, and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA Safety Training certification preferred.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience working with Native American populations in a healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, hygienic, and dust-free environment across all clinics.
  • Perform daily cleaning duties including mopping floors; disinfecting countertops and chairs; cleaning carpets, walls, vents, glass doors, mirrors, and door jambs; and ensuring all restrooms are clean and fully stocked with supplies.
  • Identify and report maintenance issues (e.g., broken windows, water leaks, clogged drains) to the lead or supervisor.
  • Collaborate with the Procurement team to maintain and replenish janitorial and maintenance supplies, replace light bulbs, and move heavy items as needed.
  • Empty trash from all clinics and office sites, ensuring proper disposal and transport to the designated waste facility in accordance with TMWIHC recycling and hazardous/medical waste disposal policies.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining storage areas.
  • Perform minor repairs such as wall repairs, touch-up painting, and installing shelves and fixtures; report additional repair needs to the lead or supervisor.
  • Follow lock-up and security procedures at each site with dependability.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
