About The Position

Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit (TCAT) is hiring a full-time Custodian in Ithaca, NY. This role is for an experienced custodian who takes pride in a job well done and enjoys working independently to keep spaces clean, safe, and welcoming. The Custodian will report to the Passenger Amenities Supervisor and be responsible for maintaining all TCAT facilities and bus shelters, ensuring they are stocked and spotless. This includes tasks such as freshening up workspaces, arranging furniture for meetings, sanitizing rest areas, and responding to emergency cleanups. The position is crucial for keeping TCAT's operations looking presentable and running smoothly. Requirements

  • At least 1 year of demonstrated custodial experience
  • Ability to work independently and follow a set schedule
  • Valid driver’s license (you’ll travel between facilities)
  • Comfortable using cleaning tools and handling physical tasks (lifting 100 lbs, climbing ladders, etc.)
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment for the purpose of cleaning
  • Minimum of one year experience in custodial services
  • Must possess a valid drivers license and have the ability to travel between facilities
  • Knowledge of custodial products and application procedures to insure employee safety
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationship with co-workers, supervisors and subcontractors
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing and ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to exercise good judgment with respect to repairs and equipment safety

Responsibilities
