About The Position

Using intuitive knowledge, training and the direction of supervision, to clean and maintain the buildings and grounds to provide a pleasant, secure, and safe working and learning environment for employees, students, families and all visitors of Region 12 Schools.

Requirements

Prior custodial experience preferred
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must own reliable transportation and be able to travel as required
Must have flexibility to work early, late or weekends, on short notice
Knowledge of green cleaning procedures, general cleaning procedures, disinfecting and sanitizing in a school environment
Knowledge in use of mechanized cleaning equipment or the ability to be trained and use on your own
Knowledge of general building operations that allow the candidate to function in emergency situations: fire alarm systems, well pump systems, boiler systems, hvac systems, electrical shut offs
Ability to use small hand tools for making minor repairs if necessary
Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions
Ability to work independently, in the background of normal school activities
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and follow through to complete tasks and obligations
Ability to shovel snow, chop ice, use a snow blower, sand and salt walks and stairs. Provide communication to other custodial staff and the Director of Facilities during storm situations
Demonstrate the capability to communicate effectively with the Principal, front office secretary, outside contractors, community members, organizations using the school facilities for outside events
