About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. This role involves performing a variety of janitorial duties, including hazardous waste management (collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special and hazardous waste), operating motorized cleaning equipment, and maintaining the daily upkeep of assigned areas. The individual is expected to report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor, comply with all safety rules, policies, and procedures, and intervene in at-risk behavior. The position requires working effectively in a team, performing repetitive tasks, maintaining a clean work area, following all company protocols, and responding to supervision. Professional appearance and conduct are essential, along with an understanding of customer service, satisfaction, reporting systems, and environmental protocols. Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • No specific education requirement
  • 3-6 months training or experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • May be required to have a valid driver’s license
  • Completed all safety and task training certification
  • May be required to be forklift certified
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willing to share with team
  • Knowledge of the upkeep and care of the cleaning equipment
  • Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use

Responsibilities

  • Perform janitorial duties
  • Perform all duties listed on the daily schedule
  • Perform Hazardous Waste responsibilities including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, packaging of special and hazardous waste
