About The Position

This Full-Time Custodian position is responsible for maintaining a clean working environment for all staff and visitors at The Salvation Army building and grounds, promoting health and safety. Duties include general housekeeping tasks such as picking up trash, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning and stocking bathrooms, securing buildings, cleaning windows and mirrors, and performing minor building repairs. The role also involves specific cleaning and sanitizing of bathrooms, floor maintenance (sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, stripping, buffing, waxing), opening and closing the building as needed, monitoring and replacing light bulbs, and assisting with keeping the grounds and roof free of debris.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• One year experience performing general housekeeping duties
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Responsibilities

• Maintains a clean working environment for all staff and visitors at the Salvation Army building and grounds; promoting health and safety

• Making sure buildings are secure
• Cleaning windows and mirrors
• Performing minor building repairs
• Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors, and replenishes supplies
• Sweeps, vacuums, mops, strips, buffs and waxes floors
• Opens/closes building, as scheduled or needed
• Assists in monitoring light fixtures to ensure all light bulbs are in working order and replaces light bulbs, as necessary
• Assists in keeping grounds and roof free of trash, leaves, cuts grass or twigs
