Position Summary: The Custodian is responsible for keeping assigned building(s) clean, safe, functional, and secure in accordance with established Belmont Charter Network policies and standards. A custodial worker must maintain all assigned building(s) in a state of operational excellence such that they present no interruptions, distractions, or obstacles to the education program. This is a 12 month position that is supervised by the Custodial Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in custodial services preferred
  • Hold all required clearances to work in PA schools (Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114), Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168))
  • The ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk extensive distances, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights on a regular basis
  • The ability to push, pull, and guide materials of heavy weights; balance to work above ground
  • The ability to climb (e.g. ladders), stoop, kneel, crouch and work in awkward positions
  • Sufficient hand-eye coordination, hand and finger dexterity including ability to grasp, Visual acuity to operate specialized equipment and read technical (including blueprints) and safety information
  • Auditory ability to hear machinery sounds and alarms
  • The ability to work in extreme temperature conditions
  • Demonstrated skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Perform custodial cleaning duties in assigned areas as scheduled
  • Support the cleaning of all areas of buildings and grounds upon request of school leadership and custodial manager
  • Provide services as necessary to support curricular and extracurricular events and activities.
  • Maintain individual inventory of custodial supplies/equipment while providing custodial manager with inventory usage data.
  • Project a positive image for the school with their team at all times
  • Work on call as needed for emergencies or special requests falling outside of normal working hours.
  • Show ownership of school campus in its entirety by cleaning and organizing all areas, not necessarily by request or regularly scheduled assignments
  • Accept other duties as assigned by the Custodial Manager or Director of Centralized Operations.
