The custodians' primary focus is on maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and operational condition of a facility. Job Description: Floor maintenance: Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and scrubbing floors. In some roles, this includes heavy-duty tasks like stripping, waxing, and buffing. Restroom Care: Cleaning and disinfecting toilets, sinks, and mirrors, as well as restocking essential supplies like soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. Surface Cleaning: Dusting furniture, fixtures, and walls, and sanitizing high-touch surfaces such as door handles and phones, sash walls, ceilings, and light fixtures regularly Waste Management: Gathering and emptying trash and recycling bins, and replacing liners. Glass and Windows: Washing windows, glass partitions, and glass doors. Minor Repairs: Performing basic building maintenance, such as changing light bulbs, unclogging drains, plunging a clogged toilet. Facility Checks: Maintaining water softener salt and documenting water pressure daily. Reporting heating and cooling (HVAC) systems concerns. Grounds keeping: Assisting supervisor in maintaining outdoor landscape areas, trimming bushes, and removing snow or ice from sidewalks, salting icy areas as needed. Building Security: Locking and unlocking doors at designated times and ensuring windows are secure after business hours. Deactivating and activating the security alarm system as needed before normal or after normal hours. Inventory Tracking: Keeping track of cleaning supplies and equipment, and notifying supervisors when new items need to be ordered. Reporting: Identifying and reporting minor and major repair needs or safety hazards to supervisor. Event Setup and teardown: Arranging furniture, such as tables and chairs, for meetings or special events, and cleanup after event. Clean ventilation system supply and return grills, assist with minor repairs as needed requested by supervisor. Make sure the establishment is clean and meets all safety requirements, reporting any safety concerns to supervisor. Other duties as assigned.
