About The Position

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under general supervision, performs routine cleaning duties, directs traffic for protection of school children, perform related duties as required. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Employees in this class are responsible for the cleanliness of a section of a school building assigned to them and other laboring tasks.

Requirements

• A knowledge of cleaning techniques and ability to learn them
• Ability to understand and follow oral directions
• Good physical condition
• Physical and mental ability sufficient to perform cleaning tasks.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops, washes walls, dusts, empties wastebaskets and disposes of rubbish, handles towels and other cleaning supplies, waxes floors, operate equipment to strip and maintain floors, washes windows and blackboards, assists in cartage of supplies and equipment
• Set up and remove furniture for special affairs.
• Shovel snow and operate snow removal equipment.
• Secure building after cleaning assigned areas.
