About The Position

Amentum is looking for a Custodian to join our #pecan team! Essential Responsibilities: The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, orderliness, and functionality of facilities. This role ensures that all buildings and common areas are sanitary, safe, and compliant with organizational standards and regulations. The Custodian performs daily routine tasks such as cleaning, sanitizing, and minor maintenance while also supporting event setups and emergency cleaning needs. Primary responsibilities include: Cleaning & Sanitation: Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean floors, hallways, and stairwells to maintain a tidy appearance. Dust, clean, and sanitize surfaces across offices, restrooms, breakrooms, lobbies, and other public areas. Empty trash and recycling bins and replace liners promptly. Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and counters, and restock cleaning supplies, paper towels, and soap as necessary. Facility Maintenance: Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, or making small repairs to furniture or building hardware. Identify and report larger maintenance issues, such as plumbing leaks, electrical issues, or damaged furniture, to the appropriate departments. Assist with minor painting, plumbing, or carpentry tasks as needed. Event Support: Set up and break down furniture, equipment, and materials for meetings, events, and special functions. Ensure event spaces are cleaned and returned to their original condition after use. Emergency Response: Respond quickly to unexpected spills, weather-related hazards, accidents, or other emergency cleaning needs to ensure safety and cleanliness. Perform snow and ice removal from walkways during winter months to ensure building accessibility. Equipment & Supplies Management: Operate and maintain custodial tools and equipment, including vacuums, floor scrubbers, buffers, and mops. Safely handle and use cleaning chemicals and solutions following instructions and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Monitor cleaning supplies inventory and notify supervisors when replenishments are needed. Safety & Compliance: Follow safety protocols for handling equipment, chemicals, and hazardous materials. Ensure all cleaning and maintenance tasks comply with organizational policies, OSHA standards, and building codes. Collaboration & Communication: Coordinate with other team members to complete cleaning and maintenance schedules effectively. Provide courteous assistance and communication to building occupants and visitors as needed. Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently be exposed to: Cleaning chemicals, dust, and other airborne particles requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Wet or slippery surfaces during cleaning or weather-related conditions. Indoor and outdoor environments with varying temperatures and humidity levels. The position requires: Regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing stairs or ladders for extended periods. Lifting, carrying, and moving equipment, furniture, and tools weighing up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for cleaning, scrubbing, and basic repair tasks. Strong attention to detail to maintain cleanliness and identify areas needing additional care. Noise levels in the work area are usually low to moderate, though occasionally loud depending on the use of equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • General knowledge of custodial equipment and tools, such as vacuums, mops, floor scrubbers, and general cleaning supplies.
  • Familiarity with basic mathematical functions, such as calculating cleaning product dilution ratios or supply counts.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures and cleaning standards.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and execute assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • TS/SCI with Poly
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) or more years of professional custodial or janitorial experience is preferred but not required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating advanced custodial equipment, such as auto scrubbers or floor buffers.
  • Knowledge of environmentally friendly cleaning products and techniques.
  • Previous custodial experience in commercial, industrial, or government facilities.
  • Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks, such as unclogging drains or repairing minor fixtures.
