The primary purpose of the Custodial Trainee is to maintain assigned areas in a safe, sanitary, and orderly manner by using the appropriate supplies and equipment and according to AbilityOne project site contracts. The Custodial Trainee will also fully engage in required training, meetings with their case manager, work supervisor and Project Manager to discuss their work skills and areas that need to be improved upon. Maintenance of assigned areas includes but is not limited to the following: Follow all program participant rules as defined in the handbook and engage in assigned training, ISP goals and performance improvement plans. Meet regularity with case manager and onsite supervisors Remove and dispose of trash. Empty all trash barrels and replace all soiled trash barrel liners in designated cleaning area. Return all trash barrels to their original position. Remove full trash bag from barrel and dispose of trash in tip cart. Vacuum public and office areas. Prepare floor for vacuuming by removing large debris and disposing in trash barrel. Accurately vacuum all carpet in designated cleaning area. Clean/check and if necessary replace vacuum bag after each use. Return vacuum to appropriate area after each use. Sweep public and office areas. Sweep all designated cleaning areas with broom. Sweep dirt from floor into dustpan from designated cleaning areas and place in trash barrel. Return broom and dustpan to appropriate area after each use. Mop public, office and restroom areas. Prepare floor for mopping by sweeping or dust mopping. Ensure that the appropriate chemical is used to mop designated cleaning areas. Damp mop all designated cleaning areas. Return and clean mop/bucket to the appropriate area after each time used. Clean restrooms and locker rooms. Clean all fixtures (urinals, toilets, sinks) in designated cleaning area. Clean all mirrors in restroom. Replenish all paper supplies (paper towels, toilet paper) in restroom. Polish all metal surfaces. Spot clean walls and partitions. Dust top of partitions. Sweep dirt from restroom floor into dustpan and place dirt in trash barrel. Mop restroom floor. Strip and finish floors. Move furniture off floor in area to be stripped/finished. Sweep and/or damp mop area to be stripped/finished before applying stripper. Apply appropriate amount of stripper to floors designated area and protect other areas. Use machine to remove floors finish in designated area. Apply appropriate amount of new finish to floors in designated area and protect other areas. Place all furniture back in their original positions. Clean Elevators Vacuum elevator tracks and carpet. Polish elevator doors and interior walls. Spot clean carpets. Shampoo elevator carpets and entrance mats. Snow Removal Shovel snow and ice from side-walks, stairs, ramps and entrances. Sand and salt side-walks, stairs, ramps and entrances. Use snow blowers and snow brushes to remove snow from side-walks, stairs, ramps and entrances. Follow a detailed cleaning schedule according to the project site contract. Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment and complaints to immediate supervisor or Project Manager. Ensure that designated cleaning areas are free of cleaning equipment and supplies. Ensure that all cleaning equipment and supplies are properly stored to their proper area(s) at the end of a shift and/or workday. Maintain a positive working relationship with Federal Government employees while providing a customer service atmosphere. Any other duties as assigned.
