Custodian (Part-time, Night Shift)

About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks in the custodian care and maintenance of County buildings. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential Functions: These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position. Changes light bulbs and fluorescent tubes. Sweeps, vacuums, mops, dust, shampoos, steam cleans, strips, waxes, polishes, and buffs floors, carpets, furniture, etc. Dumps trash cans and garbage and relines cans. Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and replenishes supplies; cleans spills; cleans drinking fountains, mirrors, tables, walls, fixtures, blinds, light fixtures, etc. Washes windows, walls, metal and woodwork. Cleans rain gutters; sweeps roofs and sidewalks. Picks up litter from around buildings and grounds. Opens and closes, locks and unlocks facilities as needed. Distributes maintenance supplies. Drives a vehicle to various County buildings to perform custodial work. Additional Duties: Employees in this classification may be expected to perform any related duties as required by proper authority. Knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in building and ground maintenance. Knowledge of equipment and supplies used to do minor repairs. Knowledge of the proper and safe techniques of building maintenance. Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions. Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule. Ability to walk and stand for long periods. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal Instructions. Ability to establish effective working relationships. Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor, including frequent bending, walking, and heavy lifting of objects weighing more than 40 pounds. Ability to maintain continuous physical effort for the duration of the shift regularly. Working Conditions Typically performed both indoors and outdoors on building grounds.

Requirements

Six (6) months of custodial experience.
Do have a combination of education, training, and work experience that is equivalent to #1 above and provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Valid State of Georgia driver's license.
Knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in building and ground maintenance.
Knowledge of equipment and supplies used to do minor repairs.
Knowledge of the proper and safe techniques of building maintenance.
Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
