About The Position

The Custodian plays a vital role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across Clemson University’s academic, residential, and administrative buildings. This position is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and minor maintenance tasks to ensure the upkeep of university facilities. The ideal candidate works well independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and a strong work ethic.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Commitment to upholding Clemson University’s standards for cleanliness and safety
Must be at least 18 years old
Must practice good personal hygiene and be neatly groomed in a uniform
Communicate effectively in English and work well in a team environment
Background check, drug screen, and proof of employment eligibility required

Nice To Haves

Custodial experience (cleaning, housekeeping, environmental services, custodian, janitorial, room attendant, floor care technician)

Responsibilities

Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces
Empty trash and recycling receptacles, and replace liners
Replenish restroom supplies as needed
Report maintenance needs, safety hazards, or damages to supervisors
Assist in event setup and breakdown as required
Follow established safety procedures and use proper personal protective equipment
Secure assigned buildings and rooms after cleaning
