Under the direction of the Custodial Supervisor or Lead, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of our buildings and facilities. As a Custodian, you’ll be responsible for a variety of cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing restrooms, and ensuring our spaces remain well-maintained. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to providing a clean and comfortable environment for employees and visitors alike. There are two (2) full-time, benefited positions available, and they are represented by the AFSCME bargaining unit. The City may establish a non-ranked applicant list for this classification that would be in effect for up to 12 months. Work is characterized by general custodial duties including, but not limited to, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, washing windows, collecting trash, and cleaning building surfaces, and restrooms. While actual duties of each Custodian will vary from time to time, all Custodians may be assigned to perform work in any or all facilities. Work is performed independently in accordance with established procedures. Specific instructions as to the assignments and timelines are usually provided by the Supervisor or Lead orally. Some written instructions may also be given.
