What You'll Do as Custodian: Perform a variety of routine, unskilled and semi-skilled janitorial work while maintaining the assigned location(s). Clean rooms, offices, conference rooms, cells and hallways, lobbies, lounges, break rooms, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas. Add water to chemicals to create solutions used for daily cleaning according to Safety Data Sheets. Clean and polish metal work, lighting fixtures, marble surfaces and trim. Clean water fountains, metal window blinds, lockers, metal stalls and chrome toilet fixtures. Ensure wash basins, showers, shower curtains, stalls, toilets, urinals, and fixtures are cleaned and sanitized using a disinfectant against pathogens and other bacteria and viruses. Ensure descaling of restrooms, showers, shower curtains, chrome toilet fixtures, partitions, floors, toilet bowls, and urinals, so that the entire surface shall be free from streaks, stains, scum, urine deposits and rust stains. Sweep and mop floors of visible litter, dust, and foreign debris. Use a damp mop, to disinfect all floor surfaces, including baseboards, corners, and abutments. Clean rugs and/or vacuums carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies. May be required to steam-clean or shampoo carpets. Report to Supervisor and/or APM carpet stains and unraveling carpets. Dust furniture and equipment as needed. Wash walls, ceilings, windows, door panels, sills, extractors, exhaust, vents, and woodwork. Empty and clean waste baskets and ashtrays and return to their initial location. All soiled, and torn plastic trash receptacle liners in the receptacles shall be replaced Transport trash, waste, shredded paper, and recyclables to disposal areas. Service, clean and replenish bathroom (supplies; toilet paper, paper towels, toilet seat covers, and soap) as needed. Report all dispensers that are not working properly or broken to the Supervisor and or APM for replacement. Ensure female sanitary napkins are stocked. Sanitary napkin waste baskets shall be properly disposed of as per waste containing Blood Borne Pathogens as specified in 29 CFR 1910.1030. Double bag all items containing blood before disposing of it. Open, close, lock and unlock facilities as needed. In some areas you would need permission to open a lock door. Document and keep record of all work completed. Maintain equipment to include minor repairs and adequate chemical supplies needed to complete tasks. Read and fully understand the “Safety Data Sheets” (SDS) for all chemicals and solutions used in processes and procedures. Follow all facility safety policies and procedures and comply with City, State, and Federal agency requirements. Do not work around individuals that are currently detained. Individuals in cells need to be removed before PCSI can enter the cells Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
