JOB SUMMARY This position functions under the direction of a custodial supervisor, building administrator, and/or head custodian and provides custodial services at an assigned building site. The primary focus is on health, cleanliness and safety. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary in consultation with the employee(s) involved. Duties may vary from position-to-position or school-to-school based on the employee(s) specific assignment. Performs routine cleaning and minor maintenance of assigned areas. Classrooms: cleans white boards, sinks, furniture; vacuums carpets; dusts; empties trash; and performs other cleaning duties. Restrooms: cleans and disinfects sinks, urinals, toilets and shower/locker areas; cleans chrome, mirrors, partitions; fills dispensers; empties trash; sweeps and mops floors; and performs other cleaning duties. Moves furniture and assists with preparation for special events in the school. Maintains security of building. Reports needed repairs, safety hazards, or other conditions that could affect school health, safety, security, or energy conservation. Helps co-workers when requested, if possible. Performs minor maintenance such as unplugging toilets and changing light bulbs. Cleans and maintains equipment in work area. Performs major, non-routine cleaning as part of summer cleaning teams. Practices energy conservation. Performs other duties as assigned.
