About The Position
The Custodian position at Southern Style Spices involves performing a variety of general custodial duties to maintain cleanliness and order in the facilities. The role requires the individual to engage in routine tasks such as dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies. Additionally, custodians are responsible for the maintenance of custodial equipment and supplies, ensuring that all tools are in good working condition and available for use. The position also entails the disposal of trash, which includes emptying trash receptacles, disposing of waste into compactors or dumpsters, and properly bagging trash for disposal. Custodians are expected to unlock and secure doors after cleaning, report any needs or concerns to the appropriate staff, and may need to submit or recommend work orders. For those working in on-campus residence halls, there is an added responsibility of reporting concerns related to on-campus residents. The role promotes workplace safety and environmental practices, and custodians may assist in training new staff on routine procedures. Specific cleaning functions may vary based on the assigned facilities or seasonal requirements. Additional responsibilities may include providing vendors access to cleaning areas, answering basic questions, reporting vendor issues to supervisors, and assisting with minor maintenance tasks such as snow removal, replacing light bulbs, or adjusting furniture. The position may also require performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
