About The Position

The Custodian position at Harvard University involves performing routine and specialized cleaning tasks across various academic and non-academic spaces. Requirements

• A minimum of 1 year cleaning industry experience required.
• Basic proficiency in the English language including reading, writing, and speaking.
• Ability to provide responsive customer support in custodial operations.
• Quality focused and customer service oriented.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English with co-workers and customers.
• Must observe and comply with all standard safety codes and practices.

• Availability to respond to off-hour emergencies as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized cleaning of academic and non-academic spaces, including offices, dormitories, laboratories, libraries, athletic facilities, classrooms, and restrooms.
• Maintain all assigned areas in a clean, orderly, and sanitary manner.
• Sanitize bathroom surfaces, fixtures, and food handling/preparation areas.
• Restock restroom and kitchen area consumable supplies daily.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors as assigned.
• Dust and wash furniture, walls, and horizontal surfaces.
• Empty and clean trash and recycling receptacles, moving waste to designated pick-up points.
• Strip, wax, and burnish floors using power floor machines.
• Operate heavy-duty wet pick-up machines to remove liquids from floor surfaces.
• Wash interior and first-floor exterior windows.
• Perform residential housekeeping during special events as assigned.
• Move furniture or other heavy objects as required.
• Perform snow removal assignments including shoveling and applying ice melt or sand.
