About The Position

The position ensures that the entire school or facility is sanitized, cleaned, and maintained. This includes tasks such as cleaning hard surface and carpeted floors, restrooms, waste disposal, windows, and locker rooms. The role also involves sweeping walkways outside of buildings, monitoring grounds, picking up debris, shoveling snow, and applying de-icing compounds to walkways as necessary. Additionally, the position requires performing minor or routine maintenance on custodial equipment and reporting repairs needed, safety concerns, and school property damage to the supervisor. Attendance at required trainings is also a part of the job.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Knowledge of standard methods employed in custodial work and cleaning procedures.
• Ability to follow instructions and exercise independent judgment.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in oral and written form.
• Ability to use all assigned equipment safely per manufacturer’s specifications.
• Ability to be trained in cleaning methods and attend required employee trainings.
• Ability to consistently follow safety precautions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Ensure entire school/facility is sanitized, cleaned, and maintained.
• Clean hard surface and carpeted floors, restrooms, waste disposal, windows, and locker rooms.
• Sweep walkways outside of buildings and monitor grounds.
• Pick up debris, shovel snow, and apply de-icing compounds to walkways as necessary.
• Perform minor or preventative maintenance on custodial equipment.
• Report any repair needs, safety concerns, and school property damage to supervisor.
• Open and secure buildings at the start and end of workdays.
• Turn lights on/off as scheduled.
• Maintain reliable and consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Respond to after-hour emergencies and inclement weather calls as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
