Please visit our website for more detail and to meet our team. www.altekelectronics.com Position Summary for the Custodian / Warehouse Material Handler at Altek Electronics Works under the supervision of the Lead Facilities Maintenance Technician to clean and maintain the building, facilities, and equipment. Use cleaning tools and other products to create a clean, healthy environment. Removes and disposes of trash, recycling, and other waste following the appropriate policies. Performs basic maintenance tasks. Holds keys and alarm code to open and / or close the building, which may require variable schedule and weekend hours. Stores and issues materials and maintains stock inventory in the warehouse

  • Ability to obtain and maintain training certificate for Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIVs), and Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs).
  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
  • 0 to 2 years’ experience as Custodian /0 – 2 years performing stockroom/ warehouse duties
  • Experience and ability to work in a highly adaptive environment with competing priorities

Responsibilities

  • Open Building and be a part of ensuring a safe and clean environment for all employees coming into work.
  • Assist with outside clean up and maintenance, such as shoveling snow, deicing walkways, raking, filling potholes in parking lots…etc.
  • Operate manual and power equipment used to vacuum carpets, sweep, mop, clean, dust, and strip and wax floors as needed.
  • Clean, sanitize and maintain restrooms and water dispensers using established procedures; check and replenish paper and supplies in restrooms and break rooms.
  • Clean and polish, fixtures, interior windows, mirrors, interior/exterior glass doors, and entryways.
  • Collect and remove trash and recyclables from all assigned areas in accordance with established procedures.
  • Clean and dust baseboards, windowsills, white boards, and other items as needed
  • Help with set up and take down furniture and equipment for events as needed.
  • Respond to emergency calls for custodial assistance as needed, which may require additional protocols for safe handling and disposal of blood borne pathogens, hazardous materials, and other non-standard waste.
  • Read and comprehend basic instructions, safety data sheets, and product labels.
  • Promote and adhere to all recognized safety practices and standards
  • Perform inspections on work areas maintained by other custodial staff and contracted vendors.
  • Assist other trades as needed.
  • May attend Safety Committee meetings or serve in a role associated with safety or emergency procedures such as building evacuation.
  • Responsible for the organization of the warehouse, safe storage of materials and equipment,and maintaining a safe working environment
  • Maintains material handling equipment in a safe operating condition
  • Safely and appropriately assigned material and equipment storage locations
  • Fills orders or issues supplies from stock
  • Verifies inventory counts and performs cycle counting as necessary
  • Distributes components for kits to appropriate manufacturing personnel
  • Stores and retrieves equipment and suppliers as required
  • Follows Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Moisture Sensitive Device (MSD) guidelines to ensure reliability of parts as appropriate/required
  • Actively participates in quality initiatives by participating in problem solving, process improvements and performance measurements.
  • Assists in other departments as necessary
  • Responsible for understanding & following company,and or manufacturing guidelines/procedures
  • Responsible for following established safety rules & 6S
