Kamehameha Schools, Hawaii Campus is currently looking for On-Call Custodians. Our ideal candidate will have at least 1 year or custodial or housekeeping experience. While we are hoping that applicants are available Monday - Saturday, on-Call hours will vary and will be dependent on coverage needs. Job Summary Entry-level position that works with direction and supervision to perform general custodial services, event set up services (interior & exterior), and provides assistance to other custodians as needed.

Requirements

An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
High School Diploma/GED.
Good work ethic, including punctuality and good attendance.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills and knowledge; ability to demonstrate increasing competence with training and experience.
Willingness to accept and follow directions.
Ability to read and comprehend training materials.
Ability to read, understand, and follow safety instructions.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work flexible schedules to accommodate after-hours school-related functions and activities.
Demonstrated values of inclusion.
Often requires physical work; lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
Often requires walking/standing, bending/crouching/reaching/etc., and at times sitting.
Manual dexterity and strength to work with hand tools.
Work may involve exposure to extreme temperatures and contact with hazardous materials, dust, dirt, smoke, unpleasant odors, loud noises, etc.
Often work outdoors and indoors.
Works in partnership and as a team with other Custodians in performing a wide range of custodial services
Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday in the afternoons and evenings, but morning or weekend hours maybe required to meet goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

Custodial Services Reviews work to be performed in advance with Custodian II/III to ensure understanding of work-related risks and proper mitigation to ensure safety.
Assists or performs custodial services by performing simple duties of lesser skill.
Assists with assembling materials and tools for work to be performed.
With guidance, prepares work areas for work to be performed, and cleans work areas, machines, and equipment following work completion.
With guidance, assists other Custodians in performing a wide range of custodial services.
With direction, may independently perform general custodial services.
Safety Attends all technical and safety- training, including on-the-job training, uses all PPE, and adheres to safety guidance.
Reviews work to be performed in advance with Custodians II or III to ensure understanding of work-related risks and proper mitigations to ensure safety.
Reports all safety hazards to supervisor and/or immediately corrects if able to.
Administrative Participates in campus and department events and activities as scheduled.
Adheres to all employee handbook protocols and policies including mandatory reporting.
Constructively identifies and suggests ways to improve organizational effectiveness and operational efficiency.
