The Custodian Supervisor at Georgetown University plays a crucial role in overseeing custodial staff and ensuring that cleaning and related services are performed to the highest standards. This position is responsible for directing the custodial team, scheduling their assignments across various buildings, and inspecting their work to ensure satisfactory performance. The supervisor must take corrective actions when deficiencies are identified and adapt to meet any special requirements or circumstances that may arise. In addition to supervisory duties, the Custodian Supervisor may also be required to perform custodial tasks as needed, demonstrating a hands-on approach to leadership. Collaboration and effective communication are key components of this role. The Custodian Supervisor will work closely with building contacts, Community Directors, and Facilities Coordinators to ensure customer satisfaction. This includes planning and scheduling regular meetings to address any maintenance or cleaning challenges and serving as a liaison between custodial staff and building users. Regular contact with other Custodial Supervisors is essential to stay informed about special requests or concerns that may arise during different shifts. The supervisor is tasked with developing work schedules for the custodial team, ensuring that staffing levels meet the requirements for maintaining a clean and safe environment for both living and academic spaces. Daily meetings will be conducted to disseminate important information to the team. The supervisor will also perform formal monthly inspections of assigned areas using a cloud-based software system, reviewing data with employees to identify actionable items and necessary training based on inspection results. In addition to these responsibilities, the Custodian Supervisor will manage the hiring process for direct reports, participate in the selection of new employees, and provide ongoing training in cleaning methods, equipment usage, and chemical safety. The role requires the supervisor to act as essential personnel during emergencies, providing assessments and reports to the Assistant Director and Facilities Management Director regarding the operational status of all campuses during extreme weather events. This position operates on a Sunday through Thursday schedule and covers a significant area of responsibility, ensuring that the university's facilities are maintained to the highest standards.
