About The Position

The Custodian position is a part-time role focused on maintaining the cleanliness and safety of County buildings in Dorchester County, SC. The custodian will perform various custodial duties under close supervision, ensuring a clean environment for staff and visitors while adhering to established procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least six (6) months of related work experience.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provides general custodial maintenance of assigned County buildings and facilities.
• Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and kitchen areas.
• Polishes water fountains and cleans windows and other glass surfaces.
• Dusts and polishes furniture and other surfaces, including cleaning window blinds.
• Removes trash, sweeps and mops floors, and scrubs/polishes floors.
• Strips and waxes floors, vacuums, spot cleans, and shampoos carpets.
• Cleans porches and walkways, and stocks restrooms with supplies.
• Checks lights and performs light building maintenance, such as replacing bulbs and minor repairs.
• Maintains security of locked doors and windows, and may oversee inmate workers.
• Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment, initiating repair work as needed.
• Provides coverage for special meetings, such as County Council meetings.
• Requests necessary tools, materials, and supplies, and responds to inquiries and complaints.
• Attends training to enhance job knowledge and skills, and maintains accurate records of work performed.
