About The Position

The Parish Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across all parish buildings and grounds. This role supports the mission of the parish by ensuring facilities are well cared for, properly set up for events and liturgies, and maintained in a manner that reflects pride in our church community.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous custodial/ maintenance or facilities cleaning experience.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and disposal of hazardous waste items.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with parish staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift approximately 50lbs.without assistance.
  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, stoop continuously throughout work day.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Must pass a DOV assigned post offer physical exam.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general building cleaning, sanitation, and overall upkeep of parish facilities, including offices, worship spaces, restrooms, meeting rooms, and common areas.
  • Carry out routine outdoor tasks, including basic property care and preventative maintenance of parish grounds.
  • Assist with set-up and tear-down for parish events, meetings, and special functions.
  • Stock and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and custodial materials across the campus.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
  • Monitor facilities for maintenance needs and report repairs, accidents, and potential safety hazards promptly to the Operations Manager.
  • Help ensure all parish spaces are secure, orderly, and ready for daily activities and scheduled events.
