About The Position

The Moss Point School District is seeking a dedicated and qualified individual for the position of 7th Grade Math Teacher at Magnolia Middle School. This role is essential in providing instructional leadership to students, ensuring they achieve high levels of success in their academic pursuits. The teacher will be responsible for creating a conducive learning environment and guiding students through the curriculum while adhering to district and state standards. The position is set to begin on July 1, 2024, and requires a Mississippi Teacher License and a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.

Responsibilities

  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and activities.
  • Employ instructional methods and materials that positively affect student achievement.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students regularly and provide progress reports as required.
  • Assess the learning abilities of students and seek assistance from district specialists as needed.
  • Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.
  • Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintain order in a fair manner.
  • Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers, evaluating their performance cooperatively with department heads.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' attendance, grades, and other pertinent information.
  • Encourage, model, and enforce socially acceptable behavior in students.
  • Integrate multimedia technology in the teaching/learning process.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Work cooperatively with other personnel and supervisors in planning and carrying out school and district goals.
  • Employ practices that involve parents in the education of their child.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
