About The Position

The Custodian/Maintenance Technician is responsible for a wide range of maintenance, repairs, and general cleaning of the Haven for Hope Campus.

High School Graduate or GED
2 years custodial experience
2 years general maintenance experience.
Thorough knowledge of custodial equipment practices, procedures, chemicals and solvents, safety practices
Knowledge of safety, OSHA regulations
Skill in stripping and waxing and polishing floors.
Skill in cleaning methods and procedures, sanitation, safety, security and building maintenance.
Proficient in attention to detail, follow directions.
Ability to understand and follow safety directions/instructions to perform job duties.
Ability to maintain custodial supplies and inventory to ensure adequate service levels.
Ability to promote efficiency, teamwork and interaction with staff and partners.
Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License, a good driving record, reliable transportation and proper insurance coverage on automobile used for work.
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. frequently; climbs ladders (unassisted up to (8) feet and higher with assistance. Works in high places, cramped quarters and under buildings and inclement weather (hot, cold, dry, and damp). Walks, stands, kneels, stoops, bends, and squats for prolonged periods.
May be exposed to mechanical and electrical hazards, dust and fumes.
Shift work may be required and must be able to respond to after-hour emergencies.

Performs routine maintenance around the Campus such as fixing structural damage, such as windows, doors, or wall repair.
Moves or relocates equipment as directed.
Repairs broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixture, repairing doors on washers/dryers.
Applies preventative measures on Campus to reduce the risk of future problems.
Fixes potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
Paints the areas on Campus when old paint has become faded or chipped.
Responsible for changing light fixtures and ceiling tiles.
Clean, dust and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; refill restroom dispensers
Assist with setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum, and shampoo carpets.
Attend to emergencies when necessary, i.e., spills, etc.
Maintains the work area free of trash or hazardous conditions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
