About The Position

The Custodian / Laborer position at the Community College of Allegheny County is responsible for supporting the physical plant services across the college's campuses. This role involves performing general housekeeping, janitorial, grounds keeping, and maintenance duties to ensure the cleanliness and functionality of the college facilities. The position requires a commitment to quality customer service and adherence to safety and operational standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math is required.
• Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license is required for positions that may involve driving.
• Ability to operate vacuums, rug shampoo machines, lawn mowers, snowplows, and related cleaning and gardening equipment.
• Ability to make minor repairs and perform routine preventative maintenance.
• Ability to travel to perform work duties at any campus or center location within the CCAC system.
• Proficiency in using basic office equipment and college supportive software.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in housekeeping or maintenance roles.
• Familiarity with safety protocols in cleaning and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality customer service to both internal and external customers.
• Perform a variety of housekeeping/janitorial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing and waxing floors, cleaning walls, vents, and restrooms, and replenishing supplies.
• Conduct grounds keeping tasks such as cutting grass, planting shrubbery, removing snow, and assisting in outdoor maintenance.
• Perform general maintenance duties including minor repairs, cleaning basins, and assisting in construction tasks.
• Set up and move furniture, equipment, and supplies; empty waste baskets and remove trash.
• Drive campus vehicles to pick up and deliver supplies and materials; assist in loading and unloading vehicles.
• Perform all duties in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Execute tasks as directed by the housekeeping supervisor or custodial leader.
