About The Position

Under the immediate supervision of the Manager, Custodial Services the Custodians provide general cleaning and custodial care and support for assigned campus buildings, facilities, structures, and adjacent areas and/or portions thereof, including, but not limited to, campus offices, classrooms, science laboratories, art rooms, auditoriums, gymnasiums, locker rooms, health, and child care centers, student residences, patios, entryways, walkways, and workshops; participate in campus event set-up and clean up including moving bleachers; load and unload cleaning supplies and materials.

• A motor vehicle such as a truck or electric cart will require the successful candidate(s} to have a valid driver's license.
• The successful candidates} will be required to take and pass a physical exam.
• Scheduled shifts are subject to change depending on campus needs.
• Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position
• Ability to follow simple oral and written directions
• Ability to use and care for custodial supplies and equipment
• Ability to observe and use safe working conditions.
• Have a general knowledge of methods, materials, chemicals, and equipment used in custodial work and working knowledge of safety and sanitation measures appropriate for custodial work.
• Ability to perform arithmetic computations where required and also be able to perform job duties in a manner that is highly service-oriented
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Nice To Haves

• Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent and at least one (1) year of experience in custodial cleaning operations and at least one (1) year of custodial experience working in an institution of higher education.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains assigned campus-wide buildings and performs
• Gather and deliver recyclables to areas of central aggregation
• Load and unload cleaning supplies and materials.
• Assists with moving tables, chairs, other furniture, and equipment
• Makes minor building maintenance repairs and adjustments in laboratories and classrooms
• Assists in setting up, which may include moving bleachers, and preparing for campus-wide events, e.g., Honors Convocation, annual graduation ceremonies, etc.
