About The Position

Custodians provide cleaning and light maintenance services for the residence halls, student apartments, and associated areas. Custodians may work individually or on a team. This position is asked to interact in a professional and positive manner with students, tenants, and summer conferencing guests to accomplish the department mission and aid in retention. The primary emphasis is on: Cleaning public areas which include restrooms, laundry areas, stairwells etc Carpeted and hard-surface floor care Trash removal Set up and tear down of areas such as residence hall rooms/office spaces/public spaces dependent on department Other related custodial duties Actively participates as part of the team while performing other duties in support of the department’s mission. This is a part-time position. Part-time employees work up to 16 hours a week, enjoy flexibility in their schedule and are eligible to receive holiday pay and annual & sick leave pay on a prorated basis. Physical Demands To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations. Stationary or moving about for extended periods of time Frequently moving, transporting and placing containers/objects up to 30 lbs, and occasionally up to 100 lbs. (items may include stacking chairs, folding tables, floor sealer, bed frames, dressers, desks, etc.) Moving up and down stairs occasionally while carrying containers/objects Moving up and down a step ladder Bending, kneeling, stretching and general moving about while stocking products Gripping handles on equipment Performing repetitive motions related to job duties Regular exposure to cleaning solutions Occasionally shovel snow
