General Purpose Perform a variety of working level semi‑skilled duties as needed to assure proper cleaning and routine maintenance of county facilities. Supervision Received Work under the supervision of the Building and Grounds Maintenance Manager. Supervision Exercised None.

Requirements

  • Educations and Experience: A. Sufficient education and training to demonstrate an aptitude or ability to perform above and related duties; AND B. Eighteen months (18 mo.) of experience performing above or related duties; OR C. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of procedures, tools, equipment and materials used in custodial work; safety practices of custodial work and use of cleaning agents and equipment.
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment used in custodial work; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to perform heavy lifting and other duties requiring moderate physical strength.
  • Ability to develop working relationships with other employees and supervisor(s).
  • Must possess a valid Idaho Driver's License.
  • Must be available for 24-hour emergency call out.
  • Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing, and a pre-employment background check which includes a thorough background investigation including a pre-employment polygraph examination.

Responsibilities

  • Perform facility care and cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, floor stripping and refinishing, carpet cleaning, dusting, auto scrubbing, etc.
  • Monitor custodial supplies and materials inventory; apprises supervisor of shortages.
  • Operate various cleaning equipment such as power buffer, carpet extraction machine, etc.; mixes chemicals as needed to perform specialized cleaning functions.
  • Monitor work activities of community service workers; assure quality of work and compliance with work assignments.
  • Perform general facility security checks; check door locks and other systems for proper operation; open and close doors, allowing access to facilities during regular work hours.
  • Perform miscellaneous seasonal or periodic duties; mow lawns and groom flower beds; assist with snow removal by operating snow blower and shovels; change burned out light bulbs and use of four wheelers etc.
  • Perform various logistical and minor maintenance duties; set up for special events, move tables, chairs, and podiums; assemble tables and miscellaneous furniture upon delivery, sign for deliveries; occasionally assist in performing general maintenance.
  • May assist with pick‑up and delivery duties.
  • Bonneville County has an expectation that employees maintain regular, reliable patterns in their work product and attendance.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
