About The Position

Norfolk Veterans Home is seeking an individual to work in a long term care facility and maintain high standards of sanitation required in a healthcare environment.

Requirements

• No specific education, training, or experience is required for entry to this class
• Pre-employment background check and drug screening required
• Knowledge of facility standards of sanitation and cleaning procedures
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions
• Ability to operate and maintain cleaning equipment
• Ability to mix cleaning solutions in proper proportions
• Ability to operate heavy commercial cleaning equipment
• Ability to move/lift up to 75 lbs
• Ability to push/pull up to 50 lbs

Nice To Haves

• Working knowledge and cleaning experience in commercial business, hospital, medical building or long term care facility
• Experience with floor care such as: high & low speed buffers, carpet extractor, auto scrubber, and floor scrubber

Responsibilities

• Clean member's rooms, restrooms and facility offices to include walls, windows, and ceilings
• Remove laundry from living areas; may assist with delivery of clean linen and personals to resident's rooms
• Empty trash containers
• Perform carpet care including vacuuming, spot removal & shampooing
• Perform other floor cleaning duties; mop, buff and wax when necessary
