About The Position

Otterbein has an employment opportunity for a Custodian/Floor Care Specialist. Come show off your skills where you can work with your heart and make a difference! The Floor Care /Specialist provides a clean, safe environment for residents, guests and employees. Under the direction and supervision of the housekeeping supervisor/manager, completes scheduled/assigned project tasks such as floor stripping/refinishing, carpet extraction, wall washing, etc. Performs general custodial duties. Shift: 2nd shift 3p-11p Sunday through Thursday

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent preferred
One year experience in floor care preferred
must possess good communication skills and a strong desire to care for the ill, disabled and elderly residents as well as work with families, staff and support agencies to provide a great environment to live and work

Responsibilities

Able to work independently and display good sound judgement when making independent decisions
Keeps work area clean and free of hazardous conditions, ensures equipment, tools and supplies are properly stored before leaving areas
Demonstrates technical knowledge of products (project specific chemicals) and proper use and mixing
Demonstrates proper operation of equipment – Auto Scrubber and Burnisher
Performs general cleaning procedures of rooms, stairwells, windows, elevators, etc.
Demonstrates technical knowledge and operation of Spill/Spot cleaning, Carpet Extractors and upright/walk behind vacuums
Maintains stock room, breaks down boxes and assists with moves
Proper cleaning and storage of mops, buckets, wringers, etc.
Trash removal
Make rounds of interior building to ensure office security at mid and end of shift or as required
