About The Position

New London Local Schools is seeking a dedicated and responsible Custodian/Cleaner to ensure the routine care, maintenance, protection, and cleanliness of school facilities. The ideal candidate will perform various housekeeping and maintenance tasks, ensuring the school building and grounds are safe, clean, and presentable.

Requirements

Valid driver's license.
Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean educational environment.
Ability to work independently, assume responsibility, and follow instructions.
Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in various weather conditions.
Must be 18 years or older for full-time employment.
Ability to pass a criminal background check.
Strong attendance record and good health.
Ability to work with a team and collaborate effectively.

Responsibilities

Perform daily maintenance tasks such as sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, and dusting.
Empty waste receptacles, refill dispensers, and maintain cleanliness in classrooms, restrooms, and other areas.
Safely operate cleaning and maintenance equipment.
Assist in snow removal, unloading supplies, and setting up for events.
Make minor repairs to the building and report maintenance needs.
Ensure safety protocols are followed, including OSHA regulations and district safety plans.
Maintain the flag, raise and lower it at designated times.
Clean and maintain custodial equipment and materials.
Report hazardous conditions to supervisors and ensure the safety of all stakeholders.
Participate in safety training and professional development.
