About The Position

The Custodian at Lamar University is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and conducive learning environment for students and staff. This role involves performing various cleaning tasks, managing trash disposal, and ensuring sanitary standards throughout the premises. The Custodian works independently or as part of a team, prioritizing safety and professionalism while providing exemplary customer service. The position may require overtime and availability during emergency closures, reporting directly to the Custodial Lead in Housing and Residence Life.

Requirements

• Ability to read and understand work orders and written instructions.
• Possession of a Texas state driver's license for operating state-owned vehicles.

Nice To Haves

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior experience in the custodial or related field is preferred.
• Certified technical training within the custodial field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning according to schedule and team procedures.
• Mop, dust, clean, disinfect, and restock supplies as required.
• Secure buildings and rooms after cleaning, following key control and access procedures.
• Provide emergency response and clean-up for custodial emergencies.
• Clean and sanitize all surfaces, including door handles and kitchen areas.
• Replenish toilet paper, paper towels, and soap as needed.
• Report matters relating to mechanical equipment and building maintenance.
• Complete work orders in a timely manner and submit to supervisor.
• Maintain a professional image and provide excellent customer service.
