About The Position

The Custodian position in the Building Facilities Department is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment for the public and employees of Stearns County. This role ensures that facilities are used efficiently and effectively. The position is a full-time, non-exempt role with a hiring rate of $21.28 per hour, and a salary range of $18.90 to $27.74 per hour. The work environment is primarily indoors, with some outdoor responsibilities, and requires a valid Minnesota Class 'D' Driver's License.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid Minnesota Class 'D' Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working as a custodian in a state, city, county or commercial facility.
• Professional cleaning or related experience.
• Right-to-Know and Blood Borne Pathogen training.
• Experience using floor sweepers, auto scrubbers and high lift for window washing.

Responsibilities

• Vacuums, sweeps, mops, scrubs, strips, seals, polishes and buffs floors.
• Cleans and sanitizes rest rooms and replenishes supplies.
• Dusts and polishes surfaces.
• Moves equipment and furniture as necessary to allow for effective cleaning.
• Washes walls, ceilings, windows and woodwork.
• Cleans and polishes brass and other metalwork.
• Removes snow and ice from areas necessary to maintain safety.
• Collects and removes trash and wastepaper.
• Vacuums, spot cleans, and shampoos carpets and upholstered furniture.
• Collects recyclable materials.
• Cleans and vacuums blinds and drapes.
• Completes work orders and tracks time into Maintenance Connection system.
• Delivers products and supplies with County van to other County sites.
• Maintains and updates the custodial supplies inventory system.
• Operates power cleaning equipment.
• Attends work in a regular and timely manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned or as apparent.
