About The Position

The Custodian Associate position at the Community College of Baltimore County is an entry-level role designed for individuals seeking to gain experience in custodial work. This full-time position offers training and the opportunity for promotion to a benefits-eligible Custodian position within six weeks. The role involves maintaining a clean and sanitary environment across various college campuses during the third shift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some custodial experience preferred.
  • Flexibility and ability to change shifts when requested.
  • Must be able to come to work every day and be on time.
  • Command of the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Sweep and clean floors in classrooms, offices, and corridors using appropriate cleaning aids.
  • Empty and clean waste/recycling containers.
  • Clean windows and sanitize drinking fountains.
  • Clean and/or polish office and classroom furniture and equipment.
  • Maintain lavatories and locker rooms in clean sanitary conditions.
  • Mop and scrub floors, walls, and partitions.
  • Cleanse and deodorize fixtures and hardware.
  • Refill towel, tissue, soap, and deodorant containers.
  • Clean ceiling fixtures, including light fixtures and air vents using a ladder as required.
  • Clean building entrances up to 30 feet from the building.
  • Remove all accumulated trash/recycling from the building.
  • Report the need for additional cleaning supplies to the supervisor.
  • Report all matters of safety to the supervisor and Public Safety.
  • Move furniture, supplies, and equipment as directed.
  • Follow preventative maintenance procedures and make minor repairs to cleaning equipment.
  • Report identified maintenance items in need of repairs to the supervisor.
  • Participate in snow removal when necessary.
