Requirements

• Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to one year of increasingly responsible experience cleaning and maintaining building areas.
• Knowledge of modern cleaning methods; appropriate use of materials and equipment to clean a variety of surfaces and furniture; basic safety practices related to cleaning methods.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, wax, resurface, and seal floors; vacuum rugs and carpets; dust, wash, and polish furniture and woodwork; empty and clean waste receptacles.
• Wash windows, walls, sinks, and fountains; clean restrooms; clean and wash kitchen/cafeteria areas; polish metal work; fill paper and soap dispensers; clean chalk boards and trays.
• Sweep sidewalks and curbs; pick up debris from school grounds; may water lawn area.
• Secure buildings and facilities by turning out lights; locking doors, windows, and gates; arming alarm systems.
• Move, arrange, set up and dismantle furniture and equipment for sporting and special events and meetings; stack and store furniture and equipment; may transport goods from one location to another.
• Participate in major cleaning of school plant during student vacation periods.
• Work cooperatively with school and office staff to maintain a clean and functional work environment.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
