This position is a federal role that requires applicants to demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties associated with the job. Experience can include both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer work through National Service programs such as the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps. Applicants must clearly identify their duties and responsibilities in previous positions and the total number of hours worked per week. A critical requirement for this position is the ability to perform the work without more than normal supervision, which is essential for satisfactory job performance. The position involves janitorial and custodial work, including tasks such as mopping, waxing, and polishing floors, cleaning walls and ceilings, emptying trash receptacles, and ensuring cleanliness in common areas.

  • Follow oral or written instructions and/or work orders.
  • Perform janitorial/custodial work, including mopping, waxing, and polishing floors.
  • Clean walls, ceilings, and room partitions.
  • Empty trash receptacles.
  • Perform cleanup of spills, debris, and litter from common areas.
  • Remove soiled and/or contaminated items following strict procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Ability to do the work without more than normal supervision.
  • Experience in janitorial/custodial work.
  • Completion of one year of service at the next lower grade level for merit promotion candidates.
