About The Position

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Performs a variety of custodial and housekeeping functions to maintain desired University standards of sanitation, cleanliness and appearance. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Clean hard floor surfaces using dry and wet methods, including the use of manual or electrical equipment. • Maintain hard floor surfaces by stripping, scrubbing, spray buffing or burnishing using manual or mechanical means and applying floor finish. • Maintain carpeted areas by vacuuming, spot cleaning or shampooing using manual or mechanical methods (including furniture) • Empty waste containers in conjunction with departmental approved procedures for handling bio-hazardous, hazardous, chemical, general waste and recycle materials. • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the University. • Cleaning of restrooms public and private, replenishing paper towels, toilet paper and hand soap ect. • Remove snow, ice or debris from exterior of buildings and sidewalks by manual or mechanical means. • Perform tasks in a safe manner without disruption or damage of university property • Move furniture as directed, including risers, stage units, tables and chairs for university functions. • Event Set ups and break downs. • Classroom cleaning, Office cleaning, lab cleaning, residential cleaning. • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor. • Strip and make beds as necessary. Remove soiled linens. • Utilize all cleaning agents in proper dilution and method. • Handle and maintain equipment in a safe manner. • Move furniture as directed, including risers, stage units, tables and chairs for university functions. • Remove snow, ice or debris from exterior of buildings and sidewalks by manual or mechanical means. • Notify supervisor of maintenance or safety needs. • Cooperates in department improvement efforts. Participates in work related teams, if desired. Practices excellent customer service.

Requirements

• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, directions or educational materials.
• Ability to perform minor arithmetic for dilution of chemicals.
