About The Position

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) works in partnership with local communities to support people with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working in their communities. APD provides critical services and support for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The Agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, Down syndrome, children ages 3-5 at high risk of developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi syndrome, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. Requirements

  • Must be willing to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency.
  • Must be willing to work beyond the normal work schedule to maintain minimum coverage levels and meet the needs of the Agency.
  • Must be able to physically operate all equipment necessary to do job tasks.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be about to work around cleaning supplies.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, turn, kneel, stoop, squat, push, pull, lift and walk extended distances.
  • Must be able to reach overhead.
  • Knowledge of basic housekeeping tasks, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, laundry care, and dishwashing.
  • Ability to follow instructions and written schedules as it relates to routine cleaning and safety.
  • Ability to be flexible regarding work assignments and special projects.
  • Ability to work closely with a team of staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to inventory supplies.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to organize supplies, utensils, food, and condiments.

Responsibilities

  • Sweeps mops or vacuums all floor areas.
  • Dusts and cleans all surface areas, furniture, and household appliances.
  • Cleans windows and window screens.
  • Maintains the outside of the building in a presentable manner by cleaning the outdoor furniture and sweeping and cleaning the walkways.
  • Completes kitchen duties such as properly washing dishes and sanitizing dishes with proper required documentation.
  • Organizes and stocks food items, condiments, and supplements in the refrigerator, drawers, and cabinets.
  • Provides oversight and inspection of food item and supplement expiration dates and discard/return per protocol.
  • Cleans all bathroom areas.
  • Restocks the paper products (toilet paper and paper towels).
  • Maintains compliance as trained on infection control regulations and procedures including but not limited to proper laundry procedures and the handling of biohazardous waste.
  • Empties trash cans daily and replaces liners.
  • Ensures all soap and sanitizer dispensers are filled.
  • Ensures supply closet is stocked with necessary cleaning products and has items replaced when depleted.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required
