Custodial Worker

About the position

The incumbent of this position will serve as a Custodial Worker and will report to the department supervisor of the specified location. This announcement covers multiple locations in support of Indian Health Service operations. This is not a career ladder position. Grade and Salary are dependent on location/service unit. Southeast Region (Oklahoma, Albuquerque, Nashville Area) - WG-3 Only.

Responsibilities

• Sanitize and deodorize office, corridors, examination rooms, treatment rooms, the dental department, pharmacy, wellness center, government quarters, and other assigned locations as directed by the supervisor.
• Keep all restrooms in sanitary conditions including removal of dust, dirt, scrubbing stains, stripping and waxing the bathroom floors.
• Responsible for refilling and stocking paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizers, and soap dispensers.
• Collect and throw away trash, restock track bins on a daily basis.
• Handle medical waste and other infectious material in accordance with the hospital/clinic/office safety and infection control policies.
• Perform terminal cleaning; sanitation and disinfection of a treatment room with patients that have highly infectious diseases.

Requirements

• Must pass pre-employment examination.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Must meet the basic requirement of ability to do the work without more than normal supervision.
• Experience in custodial work including mopping, waxing, and polishing floors; cleaning walls, ceilings, and room partitions; emptying trash receptacles; and following strict procedures to prevent cross contamination.
