About The Position

Under general supervision, the Custodial Worker 2 transports patients of The Ohio State University Medical Center as assigned and maintains patient transport carts, related mobile equipment, and work areas. This role involves transporting patients by cart, bed, wheelchair, and/or motor vehicle to various areas of the Medical Center. The worker is expected to observe patients and report any unusual or adverse changes immediately to appropriate staff, while conversing with patients to convey a friendly and positive atmosphere. Additionally, the position assists with patient handling as required, maintains cleanliness and safe operating conditions of patient transport carts and wheelchairs, prepares them for transport on the lift system, and reports defective transportation equipment. The role also includes maintaining a clean environment in exam rooms, assisting with cleaning floors and equipment, removing used and unused items, soiled linens, and trash, and inventorying and restocking supplies and linens. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum Education Required Per Classified Civil Svc Specs or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Reading, writing and math (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) skills commensurate with job duties required

Nice To Haves

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous health care or service oriented field experience in an acute health care setting is preferred

Responsibilities

• Other duties as assigned
