About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Custodial Worker 2 - Rebel Recycling, Facilities Management [R0149748] ROLE of the POSITION The Custodial Worker 2 - Rebel Recycling position, supports UNLV's sustainability and waste diversion initiatives by performing recycling collection, maintenance, and custodial duties across campus. The incumbent is responsible for servicing recycling bins and dumpsters, ensuring timely collection, maintaining cleanliness and safety in recycling areas, and supporting the university's environmental compliance efforts. This position contributes directly to maintaining a clean, safe, and sustainable campus environment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of safe material handling procedures and custodial cleaning methods.
  • Ability to read and follow written schedules, routes, and safety instructions.
  • Skill in operating custodial, recycling, and material-handling equipment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of general work experience and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of experience as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
  • A Valid driver's license is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine collection of recyclable materials from designated locations across campus.
  • Service cardboard recycling dumpsters located on campus and at approved off-campus sites.
  • Collect recyclable materials from indoor student recycling bins located in building hallways.
  • Empty dumpsters, compact and bale cardboard, and remove excess or improperly placed materials as necessary.
  • Maintain recycling and dumpster areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
  • Ensure recycling stations and collection points are free from debris and obstructions.
  • Maintain the Recycling Center yard, dumpsters, carts, and related equipment.
  • Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on recycling carts, balers, and dumpster hardware.
  • Collect recyclables from special events and respond to requests for special pickups.
  • Service designated off-site collection points and the UNLV Drive Up and Drop Off (DUDO) bins.
  • Provide flexible support for unique or event-related recycling needs as assigned.
