Custodial Technician, As Needed
About The Position
Preble Street’s Facilities staff contribute to our agency mission and help to create welcoming, safe spaces for clients by keeping program and agency spaces clean, orderly, and in good repair. We’re currently seeking an As-Needed Custodial Technician to work as part of the Facilities team. Custodial Technicians help keep our program and office spaces clean and safe by performing daily, routine cleaning of bathrooms, floors, windows, and other surfaces; removing trash; restocking cleaning supplies; and performing deeper cleaning, as needed. These tasks require extended periods of standing and walking, with frequent bending, reaching, and pushing and pulling of cleaning equipment. Heavy lifting, working with cleaning chemicals, and going up and down stairs are necessary to perform the regular Custodial Technician job duties.
Requirements
- basic knowledge of cleaning procedures
- knowledge of safe work practices
- consistent, reliable attendance at work
- be available and able to work weekends and early mornings
- understanding of issues related to homelessness and poverty
- awareness of low-barrier services
- ability to respectfully interact and maintain boundaries with a diverse population
