About The Position

SUMMARY: The Custodial Support Associate supports Custodial and Environmental Services with supply ordering and delivering, equipment oversight and incident response in accordance with operating procedures and all University policies, procedures and guidelines. The Custodial Support Associate also exemplifies and upholds the Facilities Department’s mission which is to create and maintain an outstanding learning environment through constant attention to our community’s needs and thoughtful care of our beautiful campus. RESPONSIBILITIES: Advocates safety for everyone on campus by identifying potential safety concerns, reporting safety violations and addressing safety questions. Interacts daily with diverse staff, students and faculty by providing a welcoming and positive atmosphere Preserves the heritage and unique infrastructure of the University by striving to exceed industry cleanliness standards Oversees the inventory and provides basic maintenance of all chemicals, supplies and equipment Delivers chemicals, supplies and equipment campus wide Assists with project work and urgent needs including but not limited to flood cleanup, snow removal, and deep cleaning Partners with custodial service providers and approved vendors Utilizes equipment including but not limited to a forklift, backhoe operator and truck with lift gate Supports supervisor with quality assurance focused tasks as directed Responds and assists with any custodial related requests as directed WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT: Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, go up and down stairs, walk for long periods and other similar physical tasks Requires the employee to work both inside and outside in cold, wet, and dry conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials QUALIFICATIONS: General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook Required: Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to produce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in good standing EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Minimum of a High School degree or educational equivalent Minimum of three years’ experience in custodial operations or related field preferred WORK HOURS: Full-time, non-exempt position Monday – Friday, 6a.m. - 2:30p.m.; 8 hrs./day; 40 hrs./week All Facilities employees are designated as essential personnel and are subject to work outside the normal work schedule on an emergency basis SALARY STRUCTURE: Pay Grade 3 ($16.81 to $19.75 per hour) Located just minutes from downtown Richmond, Virginia, the University of Richmond blends the intimacy of a small college with exceptional academic, research, and cultural opportunities usually found only at large institutions. Requirements
