The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing janitorial operations, ensuring cleanliness and safety in various facilities. This role involves supervising custodial staff, performing inspections, providing training, and maintaining effective communication with clients and management. The supervisor will also handle staffing shortages and ensure compliance with safety and cleaning standards.

  • Supervise, direct, and participate in the work of custodial personnel.
  • Perform routine inspections to ensure compliance with cleaning standards.
  • Provide professional training to custodial staff on cleaning techniques and safety procedures.
  • Assist in developing and implementing departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain proficiency in custodial techniques and equipment.
  • Make recommendations for improvements in supplies and procedures.
  • Investigate and report unusual occurrences to management.
  • Ensure all equipment is regularly tested and maintained.
  • Maintain good working relationships with clients and building occupants.
  • Report to work on time and in proper uniform, ensuring staff compliance as well.
  • Issue corrective action notices and recommend disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Inspect building and grounds for cleanliness and safety.
  • Evaluate minor equipment repairs and report to management.
  • Complete weekly inspections and report safety hazards.
  • Follow safety procedures and train staff on infection control practices.
  • Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ensure custodial closets are secured and keys are managed properly.
  • Leave equipment clean and ready for use at the end of shifts.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of janitorial/cleaning experience.
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning agents for various surfaces.
  • Understanding of safety ordinances and regulations.
  • Ability to instruct others on cleaning supplies and equipment usage.
  • Ability to understand and follow Scope of Work and Procedure Manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.
