About The Position

The Custodial Supervisor at Amherst College is a full-time, year-round position responsible for supervising a diverse custodial staff and ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of various campus buildings. Requirements

  • High School or Vocational Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License and successful credentialing to operate college vehicles.
  • 2 years of custodial or equivalent experience.
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Commitment to working effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical and lift test.

  • Associate degree in business.
  • DOT Requirements for operating a CMV.
  • Experience in a similar role at an academic institution or large facility.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and evaluate custodial staff.
  • Hire and train new custodial employees.
  • Assist Special Services with office moves and special events.
  • Develop, plan, and coordinate work assignments for custodial staff.
  • Utilize software tools for efficiency, including School Dude, TMA, EMS, and Star Rez.
  • Process payroll for custodial staff.
  • Create and contribute to an inclusive work culture.
  • Submit reports related to custodial operations.
  • Address work requests and dormitory-related issues.
  • Assist with snow and ice removal as needed.
  • Perform custodial duties as required.
  • Respond to emergencies.
