About The Position

Custodial Supervisor, Full-Time Why Join Us? As a Custodial Supervisor, you will be responsible for the daily supervision of a bilingual (mostly Spanish) contract custodial staff, assigning tasks to ensure the workload is evenly distributed to meet the custodial needs of the expanded museum complex while also completing daily custodial duties as a working supervisor. Schedule: Typical schedule for the position is 9:00am – 5:30pm with a 30-minute lunch break, Monday through Friday. Some flexibility with shift hours can be considered. This position will occasionally work weekends and late nights (e.g. 7:00pm – 3:00am). Pay Range: starting page range is $25.50 – $31.90 per hour based on experience. Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Ability to understand oral, illustrated, written, and demonstrated instructions in both English and Spanish.
  • Three (3) years of custodial, housekeeping, or related experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Skill in using chemicals and materials used to clean facilities.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Working knowledge of office computer software and ability to communicate effectively in written form.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with maintaining or refinishing wood floors is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and instruct contract custodial staff assigned to four operating buildings on the same campus.
  • Ensure that work assignments and responsibilities are completed in a timely fashion and in accordance with Museum standards.
  • Train employees in new custodial applications and approaches.
  • Train all custodians on appropriate job-related safety training and ensure adherence to established museum safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicate product and equipment needs and recommendations to manager.
  • Collaborate with Event staff and caterers to ensure completion of all event activities and preparation.
  • Resolve problems encountered during daily operations and determine appropriate solutions; promote teamwork and mentor staff.
  • Regularly communicate relevant business issues and their impact on the organization to staff.
  • Communicate with custodial contract organization regarding performance issues.
  • Supporting DAM’s Racial Equity Roadmap initiatives through goal setting and applying a racial equity lens in daily work.
  • Sweep and wet mop floors in offices, galleries, halls, stairways, and public areas.
  • Operate mechanical floor cleaners, polishers, vacuums; buff, strip, wax and polish floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets.
  • Remove and dispose of trash from offices, galleries, and public areas.
  • Clean and disinfect restroom fixtures, floors, and mirrors; restock supplies as needed; report damage to structures and equipment.
  • Wash windows and walls; dust furniture, equipment, shelves, and woodwork including tops of windows and door frames.
  • Move, remove, and relocate furniture and equipment as directed.
  • Occasionally assist with exterior maintenance duties including snow removal from sidewalks and steps during events.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
