The Custodial Services Supervisor is responsible for providing a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for all COSI Guests, Team Members, Stakeholders, and Partners. This includes supervision of the Support Services Team under the direction of the Director of Support Services. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, mature, responsible, and dependable individual with strong supervisory, motivational, and communication skills. They must maintain a courteous, helpful, and safety-conscious attitude toward all Guests, Team Members, Stakeholders, and Partners.

  • Monitor Team Member performance, conduct performance evaluations, and establish specific individual performance goals for the Full- and Part-Time Support Specialist and Support Services Assistants.
  • Conduct daily building quality assurance inspections to ensure the cleanliness of the facility.
  • Lead by example by actively cleaning and assisting other Housekeeping Services Team Members in the cleaning and maintaining of their assigned areas.
  • Responsible to clean and maintain Traveling Exhibit Gallery area when we have traveling exhibits in this area.
  • Responsible to empty trash and pick up litter from the outside building parameter including Science Park and Back Loading Dock.
  • Preventative maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies for these areas.
  • Responsible for complete floor care (carpet and vinyl); restroom care; dusting; exterior exhibit care, and glass cleaning.
  • Responsible for supervising the removal and proper separation of all trash and recyclables from facility.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and monitor quality assurance for all contracted cleaners.
  • Train new Support Service Team Members and maintain training of existing Support Services Team Members.
  • Maintain a helpful and safety conscious attitude towards all Guests, Team members and Stakeholders.
  • Must be capable to work from 8' ladders, utility lifts and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Support general COSI operations through participation in meetings as assigned by the Director of Support Services.
  • Serve as an example to other COSI Team Members, Volunteers and or Temporary help, in matters of appearance, attitude and performance.
  • In accordance with COSI's Guest Services Strategy and as opportunities present themselves, provide excellence in Guest Services by assuring Guest safety, using courtesy to drive each Guest interaction, by delivering the COSI show, and by keeping operations efficient.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Support Services.
  • Strong supervisory, motivational, and communication skills.
  • Previous experience working with volunteers is a plus.
  • Dependable transportation.
  • Supervisory experience in commercial janitorial operations required.
  • Experience in a public service environment preferred.
  • Proficient working on the computer in a Windows environment (Word & Excel).
