The position involves coordinating and supervising the work of all employees assigned to the custodial maintenance of County buildings and facilities. The role includes supervising subordinate staff, instructing, assigning, reviewing and planning work, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, assisting with the selection of new employees, and acting on employee problems. The supervisor will review the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy, evaluate and make recommendations, and provide staff training in skill development and the proper and safe use of all equipment. Additionally, the position assists with budget development, monitors expenditures, and prepares related reports. The supervisor establishes and maintains facility maintenance standards and schedules, inspects facilities to identify deficiencies, schedules cleaning and/or reconditioning of problem areas, and ensures the efficient use of personnel, equipment, materials, and time. The role also involves preparing and assigning work orders, inspecting work in progress, and ensuring compliance with County and department policies, procedures, and standards of quality and safety. The supervisor may assist subordinates with custodial work as required and manage custodial materials and equipment for multiple facilities. The position requires coordination with other County divisions, departments, and outside agencies, responding to inquiries and after-hours requests for service, and performing general administrative work.
